A Little Bit About Me
I’m an author writing under the alias Pen Glowy. I have diverse interests, so you can also find me as Bomaneh—a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and music producer—and the creative behind Recommendally, a channel for sharing useful guides on a range of subjects. With a degree in Computer Science, I’m also involved in IT, via which I run Temazi, a multimedia studio. But this blog is about me as Pen Glowy, the fiction author.
How I Began Writing
The short storybooks I read as a child introduced me to the creative world of fiction. As I grew, so did my love for stories, and by the time I was a teenager, I had moved on to reading novels from Harlequin and Mills & Boon. Before I turned fourteen, I started creating my own stories to entertain my friends. Inspired by a novel written by someone not much older than me, I wrote my first novel—a horror/thriller in the vein of Scream.
How Did That Go?
Not so well, I’m afraid.
Why?
I burned the book, following some very misguided advice from someone a few years older than me. Yes, I know—naivety at its finest. But hey, I was young! Sigh.
Will I Ever Rewrite That Lost Story?
Maybe.
So, What Genres Do I Enjoy Reading?
Fiction—romance, thrillers, detective stories, and recently, werewolf-themed paranormal stories.
Some Authors Whose Books I Have Read?
Johanna Lindsey, John Grisham, James Hadley Chase, and Chinua Achebe (Chike and The River, in particular), to name a few.
When Did I Get Serious About Writing?
2019, during the Covid lockdown. With more time on my hands, I started reading fiction again and eventually found Inkitt, a platform for readers and writers. At first, I was just looking for a romantic, intriguing book to read but couldn’t find what I wanted. So, just for fun, I began writing the story I wanted to read. To my surprise, readers began asking for updates. I didn’t even know I had an audience! That unexpected support reignited my passion for writing, and the story I started for fun became my debut novel, Dark Love Now I’ve published Book Two titled Dark Love – A Darker Shade, and Book Three is in the works.
What Inspired Me to Start This Blog?
I believe everyone has a story to tell. From our stories, lessons can be learned, inspiration sparked, and something great born—perhaps even something that blesses the world, whether through storytelling or other forms of creativity.
